Information
To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the United Church of Canada, the Outreach Team at Agassiz United (Agassiz, British Columbia) has established the “Postcards Uniting Canada Project.” This is their way of celebrating our anniversary while connecting people in a variety of Canadian cities, towns, and rural areas from the Maritimes in the east to the mountains in the west. Christ First was one of 30 churches to participate, and has received postcards from other United Churches all over Canada. The postcards are on display in the Narthex, along with a map of Canada, identifying where all the postcards are from. Make sure to check it out!
The June issue of Broadview will be a historic keepsake edition celebrating the United Church’s 100th anniversary — a once-in-a-lifetime issue filled with powerful stories, pivotal moments and reflections on the past, present and future of the church.
Inside this special edition, you’ll find:
Historic Letters – A glimpse into letters to the editor from the time of church union
Theological Roots – The key ideas that shaped the denomination
Watershed Moments – Defining milestones from a century of faith in action
The New Curriculum, Reimagined – A stunning graphic narrative about the ground breaking Christian education program
Looking Ahead – What’s next for the United Church?
The Indigenous Church – Confronting colonialism and fighting for equality
Moderators’ Reflections – Memories and insights on the church’s impact
Broadview subscribers will receive this issue as part of their subscription. If you missed the deadline to order the 100th Anniversary issue of Broadview, the E. Eddy Library at Christ First will have a copy for browsing and borrowing in June 2025.
In February 2025, we kicked off our 100 Day Countdown to the 100th Anniversary of The United Church of Canada. Check out the inaugural post by Rev. Heather here. Follow along as we recount stories and events from our church's history!
