Intersex refers to people whose bodies fall outside the categories of male or female. Intersex does not refer to gender identity, but sex characteristics like chromosomes, reproductive organs, and hormones.
Not all intersex people identify as LGBTQ+, but others do. Being intersex is not a health problem, but a natural occurrence in about 2% of the population.
