65 Days Until The UCC Anniversary

Church Community Volunteers (CCV) was a project initiated by Christ Church volunteers which quickly expanded to include Clarkson Road Presbyterian Church, St. Bride’s Anglican Church, St. Christopher’s Church and St. Stephens on-the-Hill United Church. This volunteer group managed various activities in support of church and community members, including a meals-on-wheels program for elderly people who needed a hot meal and a friendly chat. They also drove patients to medical clinic, therapy or hospital appointments, and provided emergency meals and help if a parent became ill. CCV volunteers had an office at Christ First where volunteers, including Jan Hurley (pictured), manned the phone making arrangements and organizing volunteers, of which there more than 200 in the early 70s. This program ran from the late 1960’s until recently.
