92 Days Until The UCC Anniversary

"The Merigolds were a loyalist family who arrived in the Clarkson area in 1808, arriving by canoe and boat from New Brunswick. Elizabeth and Thomas had ten children, one of whom was Daniel. Daniel married Margaret Vail and they in turn had six children. Daniel passed in 1863 but Margaret lived to the age of 83, passing in 1880. “In 1875, Margaret Merigold, now a widow, gave a grant of land to ‘the Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Canada for a meeting house, or chapel and burying ground in the Township of Toronto’.”

The Margaret Merigold room at the Clarkson Campus is named in her honour.
