The first broadcast of a church service in eastern Canada was a notable event. The date of this broadcast was January 25, 1925 and it originated in the First Methodist Church, Charlottetown, now known as Trinity United Church.
Mr. Walter Burke, a resident of the city, had a transmitter in his home and offered to broadcast the service especially for those who were unable to attend. It was a generous offer.
The fiftieth anniversary of this event was observed on January 26, 1975, at Trinity United Church. This service included the same hymns, text, and choir anthem.
