Are you spiritually curious?

In a changing world, we are not alone.

Like you, we at Christ First seek order in the chaos of our world and meaning in our lives. The faith of our community provides us with a strong foundation to live our lives with purpose despite what the world throws at us. Our members have learned that it is God’s love revealed in Jesus and lived out with others that carries us when our own faith is tested. Resilient, communal, adaptable to change, we know we are not alone. We know how to reach out with God’s love to others. Come join us to strengthen your faith and ours!

Welcome, everyone, to our services.

In this time of the COVID-19 Pandemic,
we are not holding services in our building.

Please go to our "News Page" for the current Digital Services.

We have two services each Sunday – at 9:02 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Each service takes a different approach to worship. Choose the one that suits your style or come to both!

The 9:02 Express “Come as you are” service
Those who like a more informal approach to worship will enjoy our 9:02 Express service. You can wear your jeans, have a coffee, enjoy some goodies and sip your coffee during worship as you listen to our band’s modern Christian music with a rock beat. This is a favourite service for young families. Kids can join their parents in the worship service or do fun activities with a Sunday School leader.

10:30 Traditional service
This service follows a more traditional United Church worship style. The church choir and our music director provide wonderful music each week in addition to selections from the United Church ‘Voices United’ and ‘More Voices’ hymn books. Scripture readings accompany the Minister's weekly message. Each service is followed by a social gathering in the Merigold Room to meet and chat with your fellow members over tea and coffee

Music at Christ First

Music is an important part of worship at Christ First. We have musical experiences for all ages and tastes for both participants and appreciative listeners.

9:02 Express Worship Band
Keyboard, piano, drums and guitar accompany a small chorus of singers who lead the congregation in joyful, upbeat, praise music at the 9:02 worship service. New members always welcome. The band rehearses at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Chancel Choir
From Bach to Besig/Price, the Chancel Choir, accompanied by our magnificent pipe organ, leads the congregation in the well-loved traditional music of Christian worship at our 10:30 worship service. New members always welcome. The choir rehearses at 7:00 on Thursdays.

Bell Canto
Our Handbell choir was formed over 25 years ago and is still delighting the congregation with songs of praise played on our four-octave set of bells. A three-octave set of hand chimes is also used. Some knowledge of reading music is required to participate. Bell Canto rehearses at 7:15 on Tuesdays.

Band Camp
This program has provided children and youth with the opportunity to learn a band instrument since 2012. Band Camp runs for two weeks during the summer, and culminates in a concert performed for parents and the public. Please visit this website for updates on this program.

March Break Music Fun Day
On the Friday of March Break, children enjoy a full day of musical fun! Activities include performances, drum circles, playing rhythm and other pitched instruments, singing, dancing, games, and crafts!

Children’s Choir
On a few occasions throughout the year, the children are brought together to learn and sing a variety of different songs. They offer their performance to congregations of both the 902 and 10:30 services. During any performance, you can expect singing, dancing, instruments, and even sign language!

Baptism at Christ First

As one of two sacraments acknowledged and celebrated by the United Church of Canada (the other being Holy Communion), baptism is the sacrament by which we are received into the Church.

When adults join the church they are asked to make a public “profession of faith”; accepting the basic beliefs of the church, and are then baptized and received.

When children are baptized, parents make a commitment on their behalf. Baptism is the sign of reception. Inherent in infant or child baptism is the expectation that the children will confirm their faith (and membership) when they are old enough to decide for themselves.

If you would like to join the church, or have your child baptized at Christ First we would be pleased to assist you. Just call the office at 905.822.9834 or email at office@christfirst-ucc.com to arrange to speak to  the ministerial team.

Weddings at Christ First United Church

There are no “cookie cutter” weddings at Christ First. We offer unique wedding services at our two campuses which make up Christ First.  You create the service with the minister, who welcomes your input.

We have an open policy for weddings, welcoming everyone and responding to your situation, regardless of family situation, faith, or gender.

We offer 3 distinct Settings:

The Port Credit Campus
located in the heart of Port Credit, steps from the lake.

The Clarkson Campus
located in Clarkson, seating for 400, and a large lawn.

The Chapel
at the Clarkson Campus, a small intimate space.

Please feel free to come to a Sunday service or make an appointment with the church office for a tour at either of our campuses at a mutually convenient time. Church services are Sundays at 9:02am and 10:30am at the Clarkson Campus.

Our Church Administrator/wedding coordinator can be reached by email office@christfirst.ca or by phone 905.822.9834 to book a wedding date. We provide a wedding coordinator for each on-site wedding; she will be in touch with you once you have confirmed the date.

Funerals, Celebration of Life, & Memorial Services

Loss is an inevitable part of life, but it does not make sorrow or grief less painful or easier to bear.  It is perhaps at the time of sadness that we realize our need for community the most. Christ First is a community of caring people who reach out to and support one another, and who reach out into the community to show the compassionate embrace of God’s love.

We are here to help you during your time of grief.  If you would like to speak to our ministry team about a funeral, celebration of life, memorial service or any aspect of your sorrow, please contact the Church Office at 905.822.9834.
