Children of Hope Haiti (COHH) is a volunteer, non-profit organization working in two tent cities, with impoverished children from all over Haiti.

Prayer Shawl Ministry Prayer Shawls become tangible symbols of love when words can't be found to express one's feelings.

Church Community Volunteers (CCV) began in 1968 following a comprehensive review of community needs by Christ Church’s Outreach Committee.

Other Programs

Band Camp Christ First Summer Band Camp is a two-week music camp for children in grades K-8.

School Supply Backpacks Prior to the start of each school year, Christ First members are asked to donate school supplies, and backpacks which are then distributed to needy schools.

The Mitten Tree Each December, as the cold weather begins to be a reality, Christ First begins a Christmas initiative for "Thinsolate" gloves and mittens.

Chase the Chill This woolly random act of kindness in which scarves, knitted or crocheted by congregation members, are collected during the early winter months.

A number of volunteers, most from Christ First, gather at 11 a.m. each second Tuesday at The Wenleigh  retirement residence, and lead the singing of familiar hymns and a few ‘golden oldies’.

Welcoming & Fellowship
The goal of the Welcoming and Fellowship Committee is to welcome all to the joy and fellowship of the Congregation through various activities and events.

Tea & Conversation
 A monthly gathering to catch up with friends old and new in a casual setting.  This group meets on Tuesday afternoons in the Narthex at Port Credit Campus.  Check for dates on our website’s events calendar.

Sip ‘n Serve
Sip ‘n Serve meets Wednesday mornings at the Clarkson Campus to perform a variety of maintenance tasks to keep the building running smoothly and looking good.

The Christ First Quilters
The Quilting group began in 1945 at First United Church in Port Credit.  With amalgamation, they moved their operations to the Clarkson Campus on Mazo Crescent.

Men’s Bridge
If you enjoy a casual pick-up game of bridge with no scoring involved, then come to Men’s Bridge at the Clarkson Campus on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM. There is no commitment to playing every week, come when you can.  For more information, contact the office at 905.822.9834.

A social and fellowship group consisting of mostly retired women and men who are members or friends of Christ First.

Christ First is in the Horseshoe Falls Region of the United Church of Canada.  It is a decision-making body responsible to serve and support Communities of Faith within its bounds as well as to provide necessary oversight.

The purpose statement of Horseshoe Falls Regional Council is ‘Supports, Connects, Empowers Communities of Faith’. Active verbs were chosen as a sign of the regional council’s commitment to be in partnership with communities of faith.

Horseshoe Falls Council has many resources available to Christ First and Christ First members, including information on community resources, access to financial grants, and an ongoing schedule of events.

National Initiatives

Embracing the Spirit is a new initiative from the United Church of Canada.  It is designed to spur innovation, learning and collaboration in faith among communities of the church.  The idea is revolutionary in scope.  Communities of faith are engaged in brainstorming and bringing to life real activities to bring Mission and Faith to others – sharing the Spirit.   More . . . . . . . .
